The Challenge
Snowy winters are part of national identity for the Finnish people, but year after year the snowy season is getting shorter. Protect Our Winters Finland (POW) is a non-profit organization that fights climate change to save winters, and guard that national heritage. The task is huge, because the effects of climate change are already showing in shorter winters and record-breakingly warm temperatures. In the middle of global economic struggles and war going on in Europe, the state of our climate has lost its spotlight. Protect Our Winters Finland needed to find a new way to fund their climate work and turn the world’s eyes back towards the disappearing snow.
The Solution
Together with the Finnish media house Mediateko and POW we created an outdoor media platform called Snow Media, that sells snow as media space for companies who are doing their best for the climate. The media money is directed to Protect Our Winter’s climate work educating and driving the change in outdoor communities. We also created an innovative Snow media app that digitalizes the rare craft of snow art to scale up the ability to create the Snow Media with winter loving volunteers.
